Gateshead Car Park Demolition Project
Gateshead Car Park Demolition Project
In Spring 2008, the Gateshead Trinity Centre, incorporating the controversial ‘Get Carter’ car park, will be demolished.
For 40 years it has dominated the town centre of Gateshead; the vision of its architect Owen Luder having never been fully realised.
The aim of this site is to host and facilitate the production of creative work based around the cultural impact of this building and its demolition.

Geoff Says:I thought the main reason is because our rail system was the first ever built to laissez faire principles with no masterplan for the overall network. Whereas the European railways were constructed to an overall plan by the government.
Now if Brunel had won the day we would have the finest railway network in the world! Instead we have a system built by speculators whose main concern was instant dividends.
