People of Earth, Your Attention Please

Those who are negative about manned missions to Space should listen to Steve Robinson’s recorded message from Discovery. Who cares about the quality of the science? We’ve got to get out there.

On a related note, there’s a big hoo-haa that this is the first Podcast from space. Doesn’t podcasting involve subscription using RSS? Why can’t this just simply be a recorded message? ‘Podcasting’… can’t stand the term.

Albert Kuvezin and Yat-Kha

According to the Guardian, Albert Kuvezin has such a deep voice that “He makes Barry White sound like Jimmy Somerville …”. It’s true, and you can hear his remarkable throat singing techique on Monday’s Late Junction (until 8/8/2005). His latest album is a collection of cover versions, which, like many other recent cover albums, contains songs by Kraftwerk and Joy Division.

Update: You may want to stay tuned to Monday’s Late Junction for a cracking version of Led Zep’s Whole Lotta Love by The Cato Salsa Experience and The Thing.
