Bill & Steve

Tonight’s BBC2 programme ‘The World’s Most Powerful’ examines the careers of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to determine who is the most powerful computer mogul. Well we all know the answer to that one, but it might still be worth watching. BBC2 2150 GMT

It will be interesting, more or less, to see who leaves the bigger impact to generations after we have passed away. Any idea how I can see that here in the states?

A fairly balanced look at both men, but at the end of the show it takes the _5 billion flies can’t be wrong about eating sh…_ argument and hands the crown to Bill. But then what does one expect from a financial guru as the host who made money from investing in Microsoft shares a long time ago? ;)

It was nice to see Woz on the show. Bill and Steve may be the most powerful, but Woz is the coolest. :D

I consider power to be control. Steve sets trends, Bill follows them once they’re established with great financial success. To me, Steve comes out on top because he influences my day to day life, Bill doesn’t.

If you don’t believe Steve sets trends just look at all the Mac, Mac OS, iTunes and iPod _me too_ products which are popping up now. To name but a few: Packard Bell Media Center, Windows Longhorn, Dell DJ etc. ;)

I couldn’t help smiling at the sight of Woz cruising along a Californian beach on a Segway. Bill Gates can only dream of being that cool ;-)

Of all the photographs they showed of the two men from the 70s/80s, I thought Jobs managed to avoid coming across as a complete dork.
