The Future of the World Wide Web

Yesterday’s Royal Society keynote by Tim Berners-Lee has been archived as a RealPlayer video stream.

Fine lecture (though the audience looked a bit bored). Also, did you notice the nice 17″ Powerbook he was using and the comment that he developed the WWW infrastructure on a NEXT box, forerunner to OS X? Little points for the Mac afficionados amongst us…

Berners-Lee delved into specific technologies (and it’s hard not to) which the audience probably didn’t understand or weren’t even aware of before the lecture.

He didn’t strike me as a man at ease with an audience either.

However, I enjoyed watching it. It was very similar to the Steve Wozniak lecture I downloaded a month or two ago. Thanks for the link Matt.

Me neither, surprising really because he must have done a hell of a lot similar talks. I guess the butterflies never go away no matter how experienced you are at public speaking.

Do you know if the Wozniak lecture is still online Tommy?

  4. Tommy Says:

Sure do. It’s a hefty 558.64MB, so broadband is essential. ;)

Thanks Tommy. Watching it now. My question is who the hell was the DV cam controller? They couldn’t leave the damn exposure and zoom buttons alone!

  6. Tommy Says:

Probably a student. I’ve seen *far worse* camera work before. ;)

Getting them to fly in one direction is a help
