Neutron Wrangler

The Virginia Tech PowerMac G5 Cluster: 1100 machines, 2200 processors. Apparently, the Finder is still sluggish, although Quake III Arena flies.

    Ha ha…!

Incidentally, have you seen Matrix or Pathfinder?

I’m sure the finder will speed up with Mac OS X.3 (cause saying Mac OS X 10.3 seems a little redundant to me personally). OS X has progressed so nicely in my opinion and further made it so that I hate XP even moreso. In fact, my XP machine at work is a pure piece of crap with the exception of photoshop running decently on it. Flipside is that Photoshop and Flash MX run pretty slowly on my old G4.

I’d like to know how my trusty iMac G3 400Mhz will cope with running Panther. I know the fancy visual stuff like Fast User Switching and Expose won’t work because I’m not running Quartz extreme. But for day-to-day browsing and web development work, I’m hoping 10.3 will run relatively smoothly.

Thanks for the links Heck, I’ll check them out.

Actually G3s are supposed to get the biggest performance increase when it comes to 10.3. I haven’t tried it out myself but I’ve read a few people’s posts on various forums saying it’s an improvement.
