You mean they’re not putting the G5 into iPods? Man, I was so looking forward to that.

Why oh why are they persisting with bloody one-button mice? That’s what I want to know. And I want a new 15″ powerbook. I feel so old-skool with my 400MHz G4 and 5 gig iPod…still, they were both free, so I mustn’t grumble.

There’s some discussion about the lack of the a two-button mouse in this thread.

I’m not sure about the whole wireless keyboard and mouse thing, I mean doesn’t it create more problems than it solves?

    * having to replace the AAs every few months
    * remembering to turn the keyboard and mouse off if not in use for long periods
    * Lack of USB ports on the keyboard

I can’t see education being a market for these either. In my experience of teaching in Mac/PC labs, peripherals tend to go walkies if they aren’t secured in some way.

But at the same time, to Bluetooth aware iMacs, the iMac becomes literally a one cord machine (sans ethernet/modem). That’s pretty sweet. For Powermac G4/G5 users, the wireless keyboard actually frees up one USB port (since one USB port would be used for the bluetooth module.

But the one button mouse is still a sore point for me. Apple does need to update the mouse real soon, especially one with scrolling as mentioned in other posts where speculation was that Apple would release a mouse that had the scrolling functionality of an iPod for continuous scrolling. (Nice run-on there).

Actually, thinking about the mess of cables that is my powermac, Bluetooth soundsticks and woofer would be nice since those have the most wires for me.

I am amused at the thought of an education lab buying a Mac with a wireless keyboard and mouse and then chaining them to the computer.

Knowing the sort of technicians I know, I wouldn’t put it past them.
