Menace

I’ve always thought about using my figure (over there to the right) as a place for Google-style themes, but I’ve never fully committed myself to it. Well, I intend to change that, starting with 65 years of Dennis the Menace and The Beano. For those on buggy browsers, hit reload.

    Genius. I remember a trip to the Post Office where my mum bought me a postal order so I could join the Dennis the Menace fan club. I’d love to be able to find that badge and display it with pride.

    Natis, The Beano is a British kids comic book famous for characters such as Dennis the Menace and The Bash Street Kids. Here’s the official site, although it doesn’t tell you much about the history of it. This site has more details, as well as information about my other favourites Whizzer & Chips and Buster.

    I used to be a member of the Dennis the Menace fanclub too! I remember getting a great Gnasher badge with spiky hair round it and googly eyes.

    I religiously read the Beano up to about the age of 12, when swapped my subscription for Shoot!

    Phil – I’m pretty sure I still have one of those badges somewhere too.

    Being much too weedy for footy comics, I was lured from the Beano by the subversive Oink!.

    Well, it was subversive if you were ten. Worryingly, I still find Ham Dare pretty funny.
